This unique house was built from materials from six different old buildings including: a pre-revolutionary barn that provided our 30 foot long white oak logs; chicken coop provided chestnut for our kitchen cabinets; weathered barn siding for bathroom cabinets, and old random flooring and exposed beams throughout log section of house.  2nd floor Master bedroom is very special with great views on 2 sides. Cathedral ceiling, large stone working fireplace with raised hearth, reading loft and skylight.  House is approximately 3,000 finished square feet with 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, 2 story formal foyer, separate living room, dining room, kitchen, eat in space, family room, and recreation room in basement with nice 7' pool table and wet bar with Jotul gas stove on raised brick hearth/heat sink.

Location:  Leesburg is 1 hour west of Washington , D.C. and 25 minutes from Dulles Airport (hub of several discount airlines). Our house is located in the middle of the Goose Creek Historic District (3,000 acres) which has many significant historic properties and sites.  Next to our house is probably one of America's best hammock sites for rest and relaxation (no noise except what nature provides) under mature pine trees.  Also, there's several major Civil War battlefields including Antietam and Gettysburg which are great day trips.  Also, the brand new Smithsonian Air Museum (largest in world)  located at Dulles Airport with a direct shuttle service to D.C.

Nearby, there's a wonderful paved 50 mile bike trail that goes from Purcellville (small town 10 minutes away) to Washington, D.C.  The C&O Canal is just on the other side of the Potomac (need to take White's ferry) its very scenic and goes from Cumberland, Maryland to Washington, D.C. (180 miles).  The Appalachian Trail is very convenient for day hikes.
